MethodsThe ELL Journey uses four methods of transportation:
The Goal is Knowledge, Not “Spin”:ELL wants our citizens to know and understand “What” the Supreme Court has done (precisely what they have decided in a given case) and “Why” (their reasons for doing what they do, both the majority prevailing opinions and the minority dissenting views). It is impossible for Lawyer-Moderators to avoid stating their own opinions and the case material is chock full of my commentary that Members find helpful. However, stress is placed on the facts, not the comments. Beyond that, there is no ELL agenda. And, there is no need for concern about heated controversy:Could there be a Constitutional topic more explosive than abortion? Yet, there is nothing controversial about (1) learning the details of what the Supreme Court Decisions say and (2) the reasons the Justices give for reaching their conclusions. Exploring proper Constitutional interpretation is far different from debating the morality of “policy.” Debate is lively, but cordial. Topics to date:First Year topics include...
Second Year Topics include...
Just think about it —
And, if you want to be a “topical” learner, jump in and out as you wish. We will not conclude until we have thoroughly covered the entire Constitution, and then we start all over again with fresh faces. Please Contact Us for more information. |
